  • Effectiveness of Commodity Boards on Export - Introduction : The commodity specializations organizations, as part of the institutional framework, include Export Promotion Councils, Commodity board, and Export Development Authorities. A network of Export Promotion Councils, to take care of export promotion of the specific products or product groups assigned to them, was created during the Third Plan period. Commodity Boards covering mainly traditional items, with the exception of a few like silk and spices, had been in existence for a very long time, much before the institutional infrastructure was strengthened after launching the Planning era. The Export Development Authorities are relatively a new creation.

    Research Design:- A research design is the arrangement of conditions for collection and analysis of data in a manner that aims to combine relevance to the research purpose with combine in procedure.

    Research Technique:- Exploratory cum descriptive in nature.

    Size of sample: This refers to the number of boards to be selected from the sample size is top three commodity boards on the basis of their effectiveness.

    Findings and Suggestions

    • Type of channels used for export of commodity should improve; delivery of exported commodity should according to time.
    • Export promotion tools should use for export of commodities.
    • Transport and shipping facility need to improve.
    • Latest information tools use for various activity regarding export of commodity.
    • Export target of commodities should be achievable.
    • Setting of export target should match according production of commodities. 

    Conclusion

    The Indian plantation sector is afflicted with problems of declining productivity, high cost of production and deterioration in quality on account of ageing bush/ plant profile. Recognizing this, replantation and rejuvenation of old plantation tracts has been identified as an important 'Thrust Area' by the Government. Massive replanting programmes to replant old and unproductive tracts with high yielding varieties of plantation species to increase the productivity levels to the desired extent.
